Pardeep Narwal Biography: Career

Narwal made his VIVO Pro Kabaddi debut with the Bengaluru Bulls against the Patna Pirates in Season 2 and appeared six times that season, getting nine raid points.

Narwal joined the Patna Pirates in Season 3 and quickly became one of the league’s most excellent raiders. He got his first career Super 10 in the Pirates’ 29-25 win over Puneri Paltan in Kolkata when he led both teams with 11 points. Narwal established the league’s most potent raiding duo alongside Rohit Kumar, scoring 194 raid points combined in the league stage of the campaign, with Kumar collecting 102 of those in 12 matches and Narwal scoring 92 raid points in 14 games.

Narwal scored his fifth Super 10 of the season in the semi-final against Puneri Paltan but could not compete in the final due to injury. On the other hand, the Pirates defeated the defending U-Mumba by a score of 31-28 to win their first VIVO Pro Kabaddi title.

Following Rohit Kumar’s departure to the Bengaluru Bulls, Pardeep took over as the Pirates’ lead raider, scoring 107 raid points in 14 league stage matches with four Super 10s, the first of which came in a narrow 36-34 win over U Mumba in Jaipur, where the raider scored a match-high 18 points.

Narwal continued to bear most of the raiding load in the playoffs, scoring eight points in the Pirates’ 37-33 semi-final victory over Puneri Paltan, pushing them to their second straight VIVO Pro Kabaddi final. In the last against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, Narwal exploded for 16 points, leading the Pirates to their second VIVO Pro Kabaddi title with a 37-29 victory and their second VIVO Pro Kabaddi trophy in a row.

Narwal’s third season with the Pirates was possibly the best in VIVO Pro Kabaddi history, with the raider collecting 369 raid points and leading the league in every raiding category. Narwal scored a Super 10 in 19 of the 26 matches he participated in that season, including one in each of Patna Pirates’ first three. He followed it up with just one in the next four games, but instead of leaning out, he embarked on an eight-match run with a Super 10 that ended against the Tamil Thalaivas, where he fell just one point timid of 10 raid points.

After placing second in Zone B, Narwal and the Pirates advanced to the Playoffs, where the raider set a VIVO Pro Kabaddi record with 34 raid points, including an eight-point raid, as the Pirates defeated the Steelers 69-30. In Eliminator 3, Narwal set by example again, collecting 19 raid points in his team’s 42-32 victory over Puneri Paltan. In Qualifier 2, Narwal scored 23 raid points in the Pirates’ 47-44 win over the Bengal Warriors, pushing them to their third consecutive VIVO Pro Kabaddi final. In the last, Narwal continued his incredible form, scoring 19 raid points against Gujarat Fortunegiants to lead the Pirates to a 55-38 triumph and their third consecutive VIVO Pro Kabaddi title.

Narwal earned a Super 10 in his team’s first three Season 6 matches before losing to the Telugu Titans. Narwal’s next four bouts followed a similar pattern, with him scoring three straight Super 10s before failing to do so against the same opponent in Patna.

Narwal continued to perform strongly, but the Pirates battled for form towards the conclusion of the season and needed a solid finish to make the Playoffs. Narwal scored 3 Super 10s in the Pirates’ final five games, but the team failed to win a single game and went down from the league stage for the first time in franchise history. This season was also an exciting season for him because he was competing with other raiders for the most Raid Points, but came in second with 222 raid points, Siddharth Desai (214), and Pawan Sehrawat (262), who was outstanding for his Pro season.

Despite a slow start in season 7, Narwal became the first player in the PKL to score 1,000 points. He set a new unbreakable record in Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 by being the first player in league history to achieve more than 1500 raid points in his PKL career. He set this record on November 21, 2022, when playing against the Gujarat Giants at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
